Landscape of 2026: Where we are, what is coming, what we can do about UN80 Initiative

Your playbook of navigating the UN in 2026.

Some of the takeaways:

  • States are choosing which protections to cut and which to keep. They are calling it a budget crisis. It is a protection crisis. Political decisions wearing a spreadsheet costume.

  • Moral leverage, legal leverage, common sense. Those were the three levers we had. All three are evaporating. If your strategy still depends on friendly states, you are already behind.

  • Rev1 builds a machine that keeps going. Templates, criteria, cluster reviews, a working group in April reporting in December. This is not a one-off audit. It is architecture designed to sunset mandates continuously.

  • Eight mandates. Three mechanisms. No other group has three. Some member states have said it directly: You (Indigenous Peoples) are the obvious target.

  • March 12 is the submission deadline. Two tracks. Shape the process with a counter package demanding transparency, participation, and no rollback of rights. Get the house in order with a greatest hits document proving each mechanism delivers distinct value.
